My passion for plants goes back as far as I can remember. I recall eating wood sorrel and red clover blossoms from the lawn as a kid, making maple syrup with my extended family on their farm in upstate New York, being in the garden with my father eating corn, peppers and tomatoes right off the plants, canning and freezing the garden’s bounty with my mother in the kitchen, and adoring the greenhouse that my grandfather left on what is now my parents’ property.  I used to play outside in the backyard, in the woods, all the time and I adored it.

Over the years, I have morphed from being a printmaker, to an art teacher, to an herbalist.  I think that the alchemist in me is what drew me to printmaking, and then to herbalism.  One year I decided to teach myself how to make macarons – there were always sweets in the house!  And now I have resurrected my long-abandoned violin, much to my Heart’s delight.  It seems that I will always be teaching and learning something, playing with materials, and learning which combinations work best for me and others.

Plants, and herbs in particular, came to the forefront a decade ago.  In my mid-20’s, I developed health issues that impacted my daily life, work and personal relationships.  Eventually, I enrolled in East West School of Herbology, studying with Michael and Lesley Tierra (and many other wonderful teachers that are a part of that school), and gained the tools necessary to further lift myself into a state of health and wellbeing.

I am regularly amazed with how herbs affect me, my loved ones and my clients.
